What Does .eco Stand For?
A .eco TLD is only granted to businesses and organisations that care about the planet and can declare that their actions or goals aim for a more sustainable future. While anyone can apply for the domain, not everyone is able to get it. There are requirements and policies that companies must follow to be approved by the .eco team.
The .eco domain extension is operated by Big Room Inc. and supported by a coalition of more than forty organisations strongly committed to the environment and environmental actions, such as WWF, Ocean Conservancy, and Greenpeace.
The domain .eco has been certified as carbon neutral by PAS 2060, being the first TLD to have achieved this goal. This, along with its strong environmental action commitment, is one of the main reasons that Closet has chosen .eco as our domain supplier, ensuring our carbon emissions are net zero in all the aspects we can control.
